The KC9LMF Repeater now has WIRES-X and is a gateway to the world. Check this page for information and resources.
What is WIRES-X?
WIRES (Wide-coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System) is an Internet communication system which expands the range of amateur radio communication. For WIRES-X, an amateur node station connecting to the Internet is used as the access point and connects the wireless communication to the Internet. Users’ stations can communicate with other amateur stations all over the world using WIRES-X.
The KC9LMF repeater is both analog and digital, and it works just the same as it has been using a “standard” analog radio or Echolink. However, now with the WIRES-X capability, it is also digital and connects to the WIRES-X node and network. There are many YouTube and other web tutorials for WIRES-X; explanation, radio programming, use and functionality. You must have a WIRES-X capable radio in order to use that capability. There are many radios that have both analog and digital WIRES-X capability and start in price from less than $175.
Programming of a WIRES-X radio is more difficult but the Big Bend Amateur Radio Club is ready to assist. If you want help in programming any radio, Analog or Digital, contact us at BBARC@kc9lmf.org.
